Billboard: Madonna Set For Big Top 200 Debut
Madonna's 12th studio album, "MDNA," is on course to easily debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. Industry sources suggest the set could sell between 300,000 to 350,000 copies by the end of the tracking week on Sunday, April 1.
If "MDNA" lands atop the list, it will mark the queen of pop's eighth No. 1 album and her fifth consecutive studio set to debut in the penthouse. Her last studio album, 2008's "Hard Candy," started at No. 1 with 280,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, April 4.
Madonna's first No. 1 came on the Billboard 200 chart dated Feb. 9, 1985, when her second album, "Like a Virgin," began a three-week run at the top.
"MDNA's" first week will be bolstered by a successful album sales promotion involving Madonna's upcoming world tour. U.S. customers who bought a concert ticket also had the option of also receiving "MDNA" as part of their purchase. The only sales that will count towards Billboard's charts are those where the customer opted to receive the album.
This sort of ticket/album promotion has been used in the recent past by such acts as Bon Jovi and Tom Petty. The latter's "Mojo" album saw a No. 2 debut on July 3, 2010 -- thanks to a fair number of customers who got the album via a ticket purchase. The same goes for Bon Jovi's 2007 No. 1 album "Lost Highway."

Hits Daily Double: MDNA To Debut At #1
March 28, 2012
She’s no longer “Like a Virgin,” or even the Material Girl, for that matter, but Madonna is still a pop diva superstar.
Madge’s Interscope debut, MDNA, her 12th studio album and first under a recently inked deal with Live Nation, is her first new collection in four years, since 2008’s Hard Candy. It’s a lock for #1 on next week’s HITS Album sales chart, with between 325-350k, beating that album’s 280k opening.

Billboard Write-Up On 41st Dance #1
MADONNA TO SCORE 41st No. 1 ON
DANCE / CLUB PLAY SONGS
DANCE / CLUB PLAY SONGS
- Crowning of "Give Me All Your Luvin' Will Mark Fourth Decade of No. 1 Singles.
Madonna will achieve a record-extending 41st No. 1 on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart next week, as "Give Me All Your Luvin' " will jump 2-1 on the tally.
"Luvin' " will be No. 1 on the upcoming chart dated March 31 (posted to Billboard.com on Thursday, March 22). The achievement also gives Madonna No. 1 Billboard singles in four consecutive decades: the '80s, '90s, '00s and '10s.
Madonna extends her lead for most No. 1s in the chart's history, pulling further ahead of runner-up Janet Jackson, who has 19.
"Luvin' " (featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.) is the first single from Madonna's "MDNA" album, due March 26. It reaches the top of the chart courtesy of remixes by the likes of LMFAO , Nicky Romero and Laidback Luke.
Meanwhile, "MDNA"'s second single, "Girl Gone Wild," is already off to a fast start on Dance/Club Play Songs: it will charge 46-20 next week.
Madonna's first Billboard chart hit came 30 years ago this year, when her debut single for Sire/Warner Bros., "Everybody," bowed on Dance/Club Play Songs on Nov. 6, 1982. It went on to peak at No. 3.
Here, in chronological order, are Madonna's 41 No. 1s on Dance/Club Play Songs. For titles that spent multiple weeks at No. 1, total frames in the lead are noted in parentheses.

Rumor: GMAYL 41st Club Play #1!
I've yet to see the official chart, but word has it that Give Me All Your Luvin' has reached the top spot on the Dance Club Play chart for the issue dated March 31! This would be Madonna's 41st Number One on that chart, an all-time record. Girl Gone Wild is also reported to have leaped onto the #20 spot!

Flashback: Billboard Magazine 1992 (Erotica Album)
From the issue dated October 24, 1992, here is Billboard's original review of the Erotica album as it appeared in the magazine, as well as two advertisements that appeared in the same issue. The first is for Winterland Merchandisers, which was Madonna's merchandise company at the time; the second is a general ad for the Erotica album and the SEX book, prompting retailers to contact their Warner representative. The text reads: "Assume The (price and) Position"
As a bonus, here is a t.v. commercial for the album from 1992:

This should start propelling GGW up the Club Chart pretty soon. Let's hope Interscope doesn't screw it up like they did with GMAYL and release these to iTunes too late. If it were up to me, they'd be up on iTunes on Tuesday!

BUBBLING UNDER HOT 100 #6 (#106 Hot 100 equivalent) (Debut)
So Girl Gone Wild falls short of debuting on this week's Billboard Hot 100 but slides into the Bubbling Under chart at #6 (The equivalent of #106 if the Hot 100 were extended). The single is currently at #67 on iTunes as I type. We'll have to wait and see if a full week of sales will allow it onto next week's Hot 100, so hopefully the video preview tomorrow will spark some interest. Not sure yet if GGW has debuted on any other charts this week, if I find anything out I will post it here.

"I've never been a good judge of what things are going to be huge or not. The songs that I think are the most retarded songs I've written, like 'Cherish' and 'Sorry,' a pretty big hit off my last album, end up being the biggest hits. 'Into the Groove' is another song I feel retarded singing, but everybody seems to like it."

Rumor: "Give Me All Your Luvin' " Remixes On iTunes This Week
According to Madonnatribe, the remixes for GMAYL will finally be released to iTunes this week, which in my opinion is about 3 weeks too late. The extra sales definitely would have helped the single during it's peak. Since it's dropped pretty quickly since, sales of the remixes probably won't do much for the song on the Hot 100 now, but they definitely will be appreciated by fans who were wondering when they'd be released. The remixes were digitally serviced to DJ's a few weeks ago which has helped the track shoot up to #9 on the Club Play chart in just two weeks (rumor has it that it will be at #5 on this week's charts. We will find out for sure on Thursday when Billboard publishes the online charts). There is also some vague info about upcoming remixes for "Masterpiece", which is apparently being promoted in the UK soon.
