Jump (2006)

FORMATS: Digital Download, CD Maxi-Single, Double 12" Vinyl

HISTORY AND NOTES:
Fans and critics alike had high hopes for "Jump", the fourth single from 2005's Confessions On A Dance Floor album. It had been a fan favorite right from the beginning, and many felt that it should have been the second single.

Like the previous Confessions singles, "Jump" received CD Maxi, 12" Vinyl Maxi, and digital download releases. Included with the remixes of "Jump" was a previously unreleased track called "History". This was Madonna's first non-album B-side since "Cyberraga" which had appeared on the 2000 single, "Music".

After two underperforming singles, it seemed like Warner Bros actually had a strategy this time: promoting "Jump" to Adult Contemporary radio to build up support, and then to ship it to Pop radio. While it did make a small impact on the Adult Contemporary chart, "Jump" never really took off anywhere. It's still unclear whether Warner Bros. even sent it to Pop radio after all. The song missed the Hot 100 and Bubbled Under at #5. It was, of course, another dance hit for Madonna, becoming her 37th #1 Club Play hit and also topping the Dance Radio Airplay tally.
