HISTORY AND NOTES:
"4 Minutes" was the first single released from 2008's Hard Candy album. The song featured Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, who co-produced the track.
In addition to the usual CD Maxi, 12" Vinyl Maxi and Digital Download formats, Warner Bros. released Madonna's first ever USA 12" Vinyl Picture Disc for "4 Minutes". Shortly after the release of Madonna's next single, "Give It 2 Me", a 2-Disc 7" Vinyl set of both singles was released, pressed on white vinyl discs. These 2 releases were definitely unusual in that the USA hadn't released anything this collectible for a Madonna single in years.
When "4 Minutes" reached its peak position of #3 on the Hot 100, Madonna overtook the lead as the artist with the most Top 10 hits in Billboard history, with a total of 37. "4 Minutes" was Madonna's first Top 10 hit since "Hung Up" back in 2005, and her highest-charting title since "Music" hit the top spot back in 2000. The song was also an airplay hit, reaching #11 on the Airplay chart. Saleswise, "4 Minutes" was a blockbuster eventually selling over 3 Million downloads becoming Madonna's first multi-platinum single since 1990's "Vogue". This song was included on Madonna 2009 career-spanning hits collection, Celebration.
