Music (2000)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, Double 12" Vinyl, Cassette Single, CD Single, CD Maxi-Single, DVD Video Single

HISTORY AND NOTES:
"Music" was the title track and lead single from Madonna's 2000 album, Music.

6 physical formats were released for "Music" in the USA, including Madonna's first-ever DVD video single. The standard B-side was the non-album track "Cyberraga", while the maxi formats featured many remixes by the likes of HQ2, Victor Calderone, Groove Armada, Tracy Young, and Deep Dish.

On the Billboard charts "Music" was a smash hit, returning Madonna to the #1 spot on the Hot 100 after 5 and a half years (she had last reached the top spot with "Take A Bow" in early 1995). The song was an instant hit spending 4 weeks at #1 and an incredible 10 weeks inside the Top 2. It also went to #1 on the sales charts (both Singles Sales and Dance Singles Sales) and the Club Play chart, where it spent an impressive 5 weeks at the #1 position (her first entry to do so since the double-A side promo release of "Holiday"/"Lucky Star" back in 1983). "Music" was also certified Platinum for sales of 1 million units. "Music" has gone on to be featured in both 2001's GHV2 and 2009's Celebration hits compilations.

CERTIFICATION: Platinum
