American Pie (2000)
FORMATS: None. (Airplay-Only Single)
HISTORY AND NOTES:
Madonna's 2000 cover of Don McLean's "American Pie was from the soundtrack to her movie The Next Best Thing.
As with "Beautiful Stranger" the year before, the USA did not release commercial singles for "American Pie". As a result, the song only reached #29 on the Hot 100. The song did, however, reach #1 on the Club Play chart and even charted on Adult Contemporary. Interestingly, "American Pie" went on to become one of Madonna's biggest global hits outside the USA.
