This Used To Be My Playground (1992)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, Cassette Single

HISTORY AND NOTES: "This Used To Be My Playground" is a song featured in the movie A League of Their Own, in which Madonna appeared in. It was released as a single in the Summer of 1992.

Only a 7" and cassette single were released (the first time since "Oh Father" that a commercial CD was not released for a Madonna single in the USA) which included the Single Version and the Long Version. An Instrumental version was released on a promo CD.

"This Used To Be My Playground" became Madonna's tenth #1 on the Hot 100, which is pretty impressive considering that it didn't reach #1 on either the Singles Sales or Airplay charts. The song proved tough, spending 20 weeks on the chart and was certified Gold. In its review of the song, Billboard magazine predicted “Playground” would possibly win the Oscar for best original song, but in the end it didn’t even get a nomination. The song later appeared on Madonna's 1995 ballads collection Something To Remember.

CERTIFICATION: Gold
