Love Don't Live Here Anymore (1996)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, Cassette Single, CD Single

HISTORY AND NOTES:
"Love Don't Live Here Anymore", a song originally from 1984's Like A Virgin album (and a cover of the '70's Rose Royce song), was newly remixed and released as a single in the U.S. in 1996 after "You'll See" ("Oh Father" and "One More Chance" were released in the U.K. instead).

The Something To Remember album featured a subtly updated mix of the original 1984 version, while a new Soulpower Remix was commissioned for radio release. While dance mixes were eventually promotionally released, no maxi versions for "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" were issued and they remain commercially unavailable to this day. In effect, only 3 physical formats were released for this single.

Unfortunately, "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" didn't really catch on and was Madonna's first-ever fully promoted single to not appear on either the Singles Sales or Radio Airplay charts. Luckily, the track was still somehow able to make it to the Hot 100, although only peaking at a dismal #78. This was definitely Madonna's biggest flop to date. The dance mixes led the song to a #16 position on the Club Play chart, at that point only her second club-promoted song to not go Top 10 on that chart (the other was "Who's That Girl"). "Love Don't Live Here Anymore" has never appeared on any of Madonna's other greatest hits collections.
