HISTORY AND NOTES: "Borderline" was the fourth single released from the debut album in early 1984.
Commercially, "Borderline" was released as a collectible fold-out poster sleeve 7" vinyl, which featured a new 7" remix, and was backed with the album track "Think Of Me". The 12" featured new extended mixes of "Borderline" and "Lucky Star". An Instrumental Dub mix was only released promotionally.
"Borderline" went even further than "Holiday" on the charts by becoming Madonna's first Top 10 hit and spending an incredible 30 weeks on the Hot 100. The single was also certified Gold. This was also Madonna's first appearance on the Adult Contemporary chart.
