HISTORY AND NOTES:
"Miles Away" was released as the third and final single from Hard Candy in late 2008.

CD Maxi, 12" Vinyl Maxi and Digital formats were released, though no music video was available at the time of the song's release (a video comprising of Sticky & Sweet tour footage eventually surfaced on the 2009 video compilation DVD, Celebration.)

No promotion and no music video led to no interest from radio and low sales. Even though a Hot 100 placing was out of reach, the song did manage to scrape a single week at #99 on the Pop 100. "Miles Away" also missed out on the top spot on the Club Play chart after a lengthy climb to #2, where it stayed for 2 weeks and broke her streak of consecutive #1's (6 total, from "Hung Up" to "Give It 2 Me"). It did, however reach #1 on the Dance Airplay chart, the Dance Singles Sales chart, and the Singles Sales chart, where "Give It 2 Me" had stalled at #3. In the UK, it became her biggest flop in 24 years, barely scraping the Top 40. Interestingly, "Miles Away" was chosen to be included on Madonna's 2009 hits compilation, Celebration.
