You Must Love Me (1996)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, Cassette Single, CD Single

HISTORY AND NOTES:
"You Must Love Me" was the first single released from the motion picture Evita, which starred none other than Madonna.

Only 3 physical formats were released, all of which featured a unique version of "You Must Love Me" with an intro that was not on the Album Version. The B-Side was the soundtrack cut "Rainbow High".

It's impressive that such a short, simple song like "You Must Love Me" received the success that it did. True, the song only peaked at #18 on the Hot 100, but it lingered on the chart for a full 20 weeks and was also certified Gold. “You Must Love Me” would go on to win both the 1997 Golden Globe and Academy Award for Best Original Song. It has yet to appear on one of Madonna's greatest hits albums.

CERTIFICATION: Gold
