Take A Bow (1994)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, 12" Vinyl, Cassette Single, CD Single, CD Maxi-Single

HISTORY AND NOTES:
"Take A Bow" was the second Bedtime Stories single released in late 1994. The ballad was co-written and co-produced by Babyface, who wrote and produced many hits in the 90's for other artists.

On the commercial front, 5 physical formats were again available in stores. All of them featured R&B remixes and Instrumental versions of the track.

"Take A Bow" was a smash hit in the USA. It spent a total of 7 weeks at #1 on the Hot 100. It is still her longest-running #1 on that chart to this day, and is tied with "Borderline" as the Madonna song with the most total weeks on the Hot 100 with 30. It could have spent more weeks on the chart, but by now Billboard had a rule that songs that had spent 20 weeks on the chart and were currently out of the Top 50 were removed from the chart. "Take A Bow" was also huge over at Adult Contemporary, spending 9 weeks at #1! The song also made some showings on the R&B charts. "Take A Bow" is definitely one of Madonna's biggest U.S. hits, if not THE biggest. Funnily enough, "Take A Bow" was one of Madonna's least-successful UK singles at the same time. Go figure! The song has been featured on 3 of Madonna's compilation albums: 1995's Something To Remember, 2001's GHV2, and 2009's Celebration.

CERTIFICATION: Gold
