Nothing Fails (2003)

HISTORY AND NOTES:
"Nothing Fails" was chosen to be the third single released in the USA from 2003's American Life album ("Love Profusion" was chosen as the third single in the UK). Interestingly, for the first time since "Rescue Me" in 1991, there was no official music video for this single.

Released on the now-standard CD Maxi and 12" Vinyl formats, remixes of the album cut "Nobody Knows Me" were also prominently featured on these releases. "Nobody Knows Me" had been released as a club-promo single right before "Nothing Fails" was released.

"Nothing Fails" (like Madonna's previous single, "Hollywood") missed the Hot 100 entirely, but made history in the process. It was the first time in Billboard history that a single that peaked at #1 on the Singles Sales chart did not chart at all on the Hot 100. With the "Nobody Knows Me" remixes included on the singles, "Nothing Fails" was a big success on the Dance Sales chart, hitting the #1 spot and spending 12 total weeks in the Top 2. It also hit #1 on the Club Play chart. "Nothing Fails" has yet to appear on a Madonna greatest hits album.
