Live To Tell (1986)

FORMATS: 7" Vinyl, 12" Vinyl

HISTORY AND NOTES: "Live To Tell" was written and recorded for the motion picture At Close Range, which starred Madonna's then-husband Sean Penn. The somber ballad marked a shift not only in Madonna's music, but in her image as well.

The 7" and 12" vinyls both included the Edit and Instrumental versions, while the 12" also featured the full-length Album Version.

The song was a huge success (becoming Madonna's third Hot 100 #1 hit and also becoming her first #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart) and was eventually included on Madonna's third album, 1986's  True Blue, as well as 1990's The Immaculate Collection, 1995's Something To Remember, and 2009's Celebration compilations.
